  • Ankle sprain/strain
  • Tension headache (cervicogenic and myofascial)
  • Plantar fasciitis/heel pain

HOW DOES IT WORK?

INITIAL CONSULTATION & EXAMINATION

“…the most thorough physical examination available”

includes:

  • Consultation with a Nationally Registered Doctor of Chiropractic.
  • Examination: Health check, Postural assessment, Functional assessment, Neurological assessment, Orthopaedic assessment.
  • Discussion of Examination Findings.

Duration 60 minutes / 1 hour.

What happens in a first appointment?

This is where the Doctor of Chiropractic will create your patient case file and ask you for all the details of your problem. You will also be able to provide any further information you have including medical notes and scans or these can be sent for. You will be asked about your full medical history as this could be important for overall assessment of your health, deciding which treatment techniques will be safe to apply and the correct diagnosis of your problem.

The second half of the appointment will be your physical examination. This will require you to change into a patient gown and you will be assessed for particularly posture, movement and normal functioning of the nerves, joints and muscles that relate to the area of your problem. For this we use internationally standardised neurological and orthopaedic tests in conjunction with observation and palpation of the areas being examined.

Your Doctor of Chiropractic will then discuss your results with you and should your problem be treatable, the treatment techniques and process will be outlined to you. This is your opportunity to ask any questions, although we encourage you to ask questions and continue to learn about your problem and factors related to it, throughout your treatment. At this stage we will also discuss whether any further diagnostic examinations are required e.g. MRI scans or blood tests. These will then be arranged for you through close co-operation with your GP or directly through private services.

TREATMENT

includes:

  • Full range of integrated, evidence-based physical/manual therapy techniques appropriate to your specific problem.
  • The ONLY clinic where the duration of the treatment is based on your individual clinical needs, not a diary! Treating you as an individual.
  • Treatments can be paid for individually on Pay-As-You-Go, or on a discounted rate as a course of treatment – further details available in clinic.

Duration per session: 20 minutes or up to 40 minutes  (dependent on treatment required – no extra charge for longer sessions)

What is involved?

We are the only clinic where your treatment session duration is based upon what treatment the Doctor of Chiropractic determines that you require, rather than an arbitrary treatment slot duration. Treatment techniques can be quite intensive and whilst most can be comfortably completed in 20 minutes, some can take as much as 40 minutes. We would always advise that you plan for this accordingly.

Some problems can be solved very rapidly or with the right kind of professional advice. For problems that are more complex, severe or have been around for a period of time, it is common that a short course of treatment may be required to help calm the issue down and ease the body back to normal function. The speed at which this occurs is dependent on a number of factors individual to you as the patient, from the rate at which the area can heal, to your general health and lifestyle factors.

For any particular problem you may be experiencing there are usually numerous physical, electrical and manual therapies that can help. Some techniques may prove more helpful to you than others, as your response will be unique to you. Over the course of your treatment your Doctor of Chiropractic will explore with you different treatment approaches to determine as rapidly as possible which treatments you respond best to. This means your treatment will be tailored specifically to you, at all stages. Your problem can change in nature over the course of its recovery, treatment will be responsive to this and change with you where needed. You will be constantly monitored and your feedback taken on every session. This will be augmented with an individually-tailored exercise program for which you will be given an one-to-one exercise tuition session and preventative ergonomic and postural advice. For an exact list of treatment techniques available in clinic please see our ‘About’ page here.

You will be formally re-assessed at a set end-point in your treatment to see if adequate progress has been made and to send you for further investigation if needed or to a different specialist where required.

Once your problem has been resolved you may chose to have a periodic check-up, to help you stay on top of a problem that is prone to recuring. This is known as a ‘maintenance’ appointment and can in some instances reduce the chances of you ever needing a full course of treatment again.
